Power convertible top problem

Recommended Posts

You shouldn't have to bleed the cylinders, the trapped air will be released into the partially filled reservoir. Disconnect the cylinders from the top mechanism and raise and lower the rams several times. This should equalize the travel. Reconnect the cylinders to the top mechanism. Recheck the fluid level in the reservoir several times while doing this. The reservoir should only be filled to about 2/3 capacity.

No hydraulics are used on 1946-48 Cbryslers including the T&C..

Screw drive motors are used...right and left.

The gearbox runs dry of lube and or the screw...causing sieze up of the assembly.

You have to remove the rear seat and 1/4 upholstery to diagnos the problem.

Parts are tough to find.

No reason to convert...fix em.

Screw drives work great...forever as long as maintained.

Hydraulics.....can and will leak.

So it seems your right side motor assembly is not working.

Take them both out and get them both up to proper working order.
