Recommended Posts

Dose anyone know where I can find this starter bendix spring. It measure 2 & 3/8 across & 1 & 1/2 long. It goes on a 1929 Seagrave Fire truck. I had it running today. This truck is for sale. Thanks

Hi, I have a 1912 Seagrave with the same starter Bendix spring problem. Could you point me in the right direction to find another.
It has a Delco starter but has a gear reduction and the Bendix is on the flywheel side or the Seagrave reduction unit not the starter itself. The dimensions are approximately 1 3/8" inside diameter and 2 3/8" outside diameter. I have enclosed photos to assist. I'm looking for a replacement, or a source to repair the broken "ear".

Thank you

If you want to try my spring, we can deal. If you find out it is wrong, just send it back for full refund less shipping.

Since your spring appears to be broken, are the mounting ears on the same side, or opposite? Mine are on the same side.

I have quite a few Wickwire Spencer springs but I don't see an SS8R,anyone know what an SS4R fits? They all end with R or L,I presume left or right winding.
