Relisted 12/14/21 Seller's Description  -  (Deleted 12/17/21):

Has the 331 Hemi, push button automatic, working air (leaks down) new tires, brakes, `trico classic wipers, seat belts, the horn ring is broken and I have not been able to find a replacement. The blinkers are disconnected because the left one is stuck on. Likely the plastic parts in the column. New shocks and freshly rebuilt steering gear. Has been in the family since 1959. Message me with questions or to schedule a time to see it. $13,500 Firm

Relisted 12/20/21 Seller's Description:

1956 Chrysler Windsor

  • Very good condition
  • Driven 80,000 miles
  • Automatic transmission
  • Exterior color: Yellow · Interior color: Gold

1956 Chrysler Windsor (not "LHS" as FB doesn't recognize this model). This was purchased as a "new" Demo by the prior owner and handed down to his nephew who likewise owned it for years, but has decided to sell for space issues (kids & cars!). This car is exceptionally clean. Starts easily. Has rare Factory-added AC that was working, but likely needs to be serviced. Push-Button Trans works as it should. Horn works only when it wants to 50/50. Interior is exceptional for its age. This has an early Hemi-engine design in it (forget the name of that)-------but runs well and offers plenty of power. I think the 1st person who sees it will buy it. SUPER nice. Comes with a few manuals, and some incidental parts acquired over the years for it as spares. $13,700 Firm

And the name of that engine is a Polyspheric 331 CID engine, the Spitfire 331 in Chrysler speak.  And yes while based (block/crank) on the Hemi engine of the same displacement, the cylinder heads, pistons, and associated hardware are completely different.  A little misleading to refer to it as a hemi or a 'Hemi-engine design' but I like the car nevertheless and believe it's honestly represented.

Advertised for such a length of time, the car reminds me of this one below which eventually sold for a similar price then apparently flipped:

I really like this car, almost everything about it , really sharp but the price flip flop is just sad. I wish it could find a good home. the fairly significant mileage has me questioning what is going on too from 74,000 miles to 125,000 miles? HUH?  This sets a "wonder what it is really like" doubt factor to any one considering buying it. Then the question of the battery! for that $ a new battery should not be an issue. Will the next listing, relisting state "tires flat but only on one side? "

I spoke to the seller’s agent last time this car was for sale.

He told me there was “no chance” the price would come down.

His words were a prophecy.

This car has been for sale for over two years.  It is a sad story.

So the seller's agent can't even keep the story, price, details  straight.  2 years! for sale.  Neat car that needs to be in appreciative ownership , get some stuff sorted out ( all cars no matter how nice need some kind of sorting ) and then shared with everyone by being driven, going on tours, etc.  Yes, a sad story.

This whole saga is a damn joke and a half. If they couldn't sell it over a two-year period at less than $15K, how do they expect to get $25K for it now? I just don't understand the way some people think. And it needs a battery, and they won't put one in? I hate to be a cynical mofo (I am, admittedly), but some people are just plain out there with their thought processes. These jokers must be from another solar system.

That's a nice car, a survivor, that deserves a good home, but there are two idiots preventing that from happening; the owner and the broker.

Let's just say they're not the sharpest knives in the drawer.

I have a long story about my days playing a 75-year old bar in Bloomingdale, NJ that was owned by a similar dope with no common sense, but it's late.

I can't recall ever seeing a power steering pump built into the back of the generator before. I wonder if it's part of the air-conditioning package?

Actually, it's pretty common. All the Chryslers were that way in the mid-50s, and so were the Chevys and maybe other GM cars. My wife's '56 doesn't have A/C but the power steering pump is on the generator.

1954 Chevy Power Steering was driven off the back of the generator.

I had one of those generators which was passed along to a friend who needed it

Something fishy with the colors on this car. Black and pink upholstery on a yellow and white car makes zero sense. I remember years back seeing a yellow and black 69 Camaro with green houndstooth interior on a sleezeball used car lot. Gutter ball.

The current price of $16,500 is where Seller was at when car was first listed for sale on 4/8/21.

Since that time, the price has been adjusted 10 times to a high of $24,900 on 5/4/23

and a low of $12,500 on 1/12/22.  This car has been for sale for almost three years.

Makes one wonder if Seller is really serious about selling.

It makes me wonder if the seller is a flaming idiot. Of course, I said that already in this thread. He could be playing the old game, "I'm trying to sell it dear, but no one is buying."

On 3/27/24, Seller reduced price to $15,500.

This latest asking price is $1,000 less than the original asking price of $16,500 on 4/8/21.

That was three years ago.

This car still needs a new battery.

Watching all this makes my heart hurt.

It is a pretty car and I'm a little surprised it didn't sell when it was a 12K. The price going up could have been the result of one of the kids telling the folks "Dad that car is worth way more than your asking for it" with 24K being the result. I can almost here the conversation.
