Porsche 68 Posted March 28, 2021 Share Posted March 28, 2021 Took the oil pan off for a little sludge maintenance on my25 dodge Cantrell noticed some slack in the starter generator chain Loosened all the bolts I could find but cannot seem to turn the generator am I missing something? nearchoclatetown Posted March 28, 2021 Share Posted March 28, 2021 That bolt is simply a steady. Once the chain is adjusted you tension that to hold it in place. The adjustment is inside the front cover. The generator is threaded and a lock ring acts as a cam to adjust the tension. Too tight it makes noise, too loose same thing. Loosen the set screw and use a piece of brass and tap the ring to adjust. It MAY show you in your Book of Information? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Porsche 68 Posted March 31, 2021 Author Share Posted March 31, 2021 Nearchocklatown thanks once I took the front cover the light bulb came on Bent the locking tabs back and tapped on the locking ring got my 1/2 inch slack adjustment .now to tackle the water pump rebuild.
