kingrudy
I don't understand the statement "interior needs a good detail". When you are asking 31k, this car should already been detailed. 9
suchan
The dealer's overplaying his hand. Clean it up, look for some factory wheel covers to replace the JC Whitney dog dishes. At that asking price, replacing those nasty old tires with a new set of bias-look radials might make sense, too. The sunroof greenhouse might be OK in summer up here in western Washington, but you'd be googling Vintage Air PDQ elsewhere.
JamesR
I'm guessing the owner believes the extremely low miles justifies the high price. Again, one of the problem with cars that claim to be extremely low mileage is that it's difficult to have documentation for such a thing. It generally means very long periods of non-use, during which there were no service records to document a steady progression of mileage. It also means potential problems with internal parts as a result of non-use. I do really like this car, though. FoMoCo made a genuine effort to make their Mercuries snazzier than their Fords back then.
TerryB
Neat car, especially the dash layout. Looks like spaceship controls around the steering wheel.

I didn't know Mercs had that feature. Very cool, and really set them apart from the Fords.

I think they came with a cover that snaps under the roof on the inside.

They did come with inside covers, The Ford Skyliner used snaps, the upscale Mercury used zippers. ;-)

kingrudy
I wonder if the seller detailed the interior and raised the price of the car to compensate himself for his time.
