bill pritchett
I ran across this on YouTube. It is NYC in the 1940's. There are a lot of interesting cars. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHe_d2hUVnA 3
md murray
That's cool. What are those cabs with the bobbed fenders again? They're everywhere in that video.
John348
Fifth Avenue still looks the same, except for the two way traffic. The first few minutes I could not place where that was, all of those landmarks are long gone
JACK M
I am guessing this was filmed from a bicycle. Cool clip. Never been there.
31plymouth
Are those early Checker cabs?

George Cole
Nice video. Thanks for posting. Interesting to note the number of cars with white wall tires. Many of the upscale cars in the video (Cadillac, Lasalle, Packard, etc.,) had them, and even some not-so-upscale ones did as well. I'm not saying they all did, but enough for them to be an obviously normal accessory.
Guest
With all the traffic rules not being observed, I am surprised that at least they were on the right side of the street! 😨
Akstraw
Apparently those are the 39-41 Checker Model A. Very unusual grill setup; I have never seen one in person. http://www.icta.club/the-1939-checker-model-was-watershed/ I enjoyed the video. Thanks for posting. 31plymouth
So what year do you think this was filmed? Late 40's? Not many pre= 1936 cars .Is it because it's NYC? A different discussion concluded that people only kept their cars for 4 or 5 years. I'm driving a 13 year old car. What a boring film this would make if filmed today.
