Spalchanes
While I was putting my new flywheel on I realized that one of the bearings burnt out. Any suggestions as to where I can find another one?
viv w
Chryslers of this era usually have babbitted big end bearings on the conrods and the main bearings are probably thick removeable brass shells that are babbitted. Unfortunately, even if you are lucky enough to find a set of new old stock main bearings, you will still have to line bore them to suit your crankshaft. I think you will have no option, but to find an engineering shop that can re babitt all the bearings for you. Brace yourself for a motor rebuild and the expense that comes with it. stakeside
I required babbit bearings for the 7 mains and 6 connecting rods for my Dodge DA-6. I feel fortunate to have a local craftsman here in Sacramento CA. It is quite a process and was able to help him. Very expensive . Cost could vary between $2000 and $4000 for just the Babbit bearings alone.
