bvrkilmatt
I am in need of information concerning the original equipment carburetor on the 1903 and 1904 Curved Dash Olds. I know that Holley built carbs to retrofit - as they did for many vehicles, but did Olds design and build the original equipment carbs?
Steve Moskowitz
Oldsmobile did design their own carburetors through 1903, they started with a mixer in 1901 and then went to a slide valve later. Some 1903 cars came equipped with a Holley but supposedly there are very few of these that have survived. There have been reproductions made in the past. The 1904 also saw a Olds built carb and a Holley. They were not retrofitted but offered by Olds Motor Works. The Holley is what you see on most 1904's that still are in operation today. If you are restoring a CDO, you should seriously consider joining the CDO Club and picking up one of several books written by CDO historian Gary Hoonsbeen.
