Burbon
I'm currently pulling parts to replace and I notice that I have rust behind my water pump inside the engine, how could I remove it?
Rusty_OToole
You could run plain water with a bottle of CLR calcium, lime and rust remover for 50 or 100 miles, then flush with fresh water and refill with antifreeze or summer coolant. The proper coolant has rust inhibitors to prevent rust and corrosion.

Define "rust". Are you talking about a smooth film, as noted above, or bubbles and pitting? And FYI, you might want to consider using a thread title that provides more relevant information. "Chevy TBI" doesn't tell us the year, motor, or even that this was a question about the cooling system. Help yourself by providing the people trying to help you with useful information. Rusty_OToole
I thought it was a question about the old throttle body injection and almost didn't open the thread. Only did out of curiosity as the TBI Chevies are rather new for this board.

Yet, the first ones are over 35 years old and have been eligible for AACA for more than a decade.

Frank DuVal
Heck, the multi port fuel injected ones are AACA material now! Like the LT1 through 1996. 😉
