Flivverking
For those who take note of where to get things and sizes of for current or future projects. Hub bolts of the carriage type ,2-1/4” x3/8 x 16 TPI with high dome head as used on my 1927 Chrysler 70 with 18” wheels (and others I’m sure )are pretty close to the the current bolts offered by Model T Ford suppliers as “extra long “hub bolts to fit accessory “Rocky Mountain “brake drums to the early Ford wood wheel . The new R-M brake bolts measure 2-5/16” from under the head to threaded end, with a thicker dome head then the standard carriage shallow head bolts, but not quite as pointy a crown as my original bolt heads. $2.10 each. Propped low profile nuts to fit $.15 each Searching out the correct size , just plain serviceable, carriage bolt was a bit challenging as most carriage bolts under 6” length were full thread not partial thread as required for this application.
hddennis
FlivverKing, Thanks for posting this. I just checked my 1917 Maxwell parts book and this is the exact size for my car. I now know where to get replacements when I send out my wood wheels for restoration. Appreciate the help, Howard Dennis
