Where to find the front wheel bearing caps for 64 Riviera

Recommended Posts

I'm working on a 64 Riviera and so far have been unable to find a listing for

the little metal caps that go in the front wheel hubs to protect the wheel bearings

from contamination. The car I'm working on has both of them missing. Anybody know

a source for these?

Ed, the hubs are put together on the car with the wheel bearings and cotter pins so I can't get

an accurate measurement. Tom, if you can send me good used ones that would be great. PM me with

your address and price and I'll send you a check.

Winston,

I thought perhaps that you might just know. Anyway, I have a couple of unmounted drums.  Here's a picture that may help you.20210211_161204.thumb.jpg.5f591709ef296f2b922695b15556ad3c.jpg

Would convert to 1.9375"

Says they're the same size as 49 - 52 Fords.

Winston,

Next time I'm at my garage, in the next couple days, & I will check their condition & get back to you.

PM me an offer & an address for shipping so I can get a quote.

These cars have larger then average front hubs, I would check truck size caps of the era. I know from shopping for after market rims that truck rims are easiest to find that will fit the larger hub bearing size. Also, check cadillac bearing caps since theses cars share some parts with older cadillacs.

If you Google the dimensions that I posted, you can find all sorts of them.

Here's the one that I mentioned that fits an older Ford from NAPA

1949-54 Ford & Mercury Front Hub Grease Cap - 1-15/16" OD

I tried that one, it won't work because it doesn't go deep enough into the hub to stay on.....

the problem is that the Buick hubs have a chamfer around the edge of the hole and the Ford caps

although the right diameter won't reach beyond the chamfer and stay on.

Winston,

Sorry I haven't been able to get to my garage/storage area because of the snow & low freezing rain temps.  IF you have a chance of getting them from CTX-SLPR get them.

    If not let me know.
