Buick35
Is there supposed to be a chrome strip along the lower edge of the dash on a 41 series 1935? Just curious.Mine has small holes along the bottom edge and someone sent me a picture of a dash he has to sell with the strip but it's way different than mine on the bottom. It must be older or from a larger series.Greg Edited January 25, 2021 by Buick35 Year (see edit history)
JayG
I searched for 35 series 40 buicks and all the pics that I could see of the dash didn't have the trim you are referring to on the lower age. Maybe 40's didn't have it.
Buick35
Thanks,I thought maybe it did because I have some holes along the edge.
Grimy
The holes are for installation of the control head for the optional radios, called "Air Chief" and "Air Mate" IIRC, which mounted in the center notch below the instrument panel. The big box was mounted on the firewall, and was controlled (off-on-volume and tuning) by cables from the control head to the box. These radios were B-O-P (Buick-Olds-Pontiac) units used by all three marques. Sorry, I don't have any photos, but surely a Buick sales or accessory catalog would have a picture. Jim Nelson
My 35-58 has the chrome strip along the bottom. The 40 series was the cheeper version in 1934/35. The 50 series had more chrome such as head light buckets etc.
