Thanks for the ID.  A Cabriolet explains why they kept the rear doors intact, as the rear of the roofline was already "cut out".

The Brunn Cabriolet was available both as collapsible (landaulet) and non-collapsible form.  Priced a $6,800 new, certainly was a sad end for such an expensive, elegant coach-built car twelve years later.  But, then, no doubt NYC region junkyards were full of cast-off town cars by the advent of WWII.
