The seller's eventually going to grab the detail spray, chrome polish and Bleche-White, and bad things will happen to the asking price..

Seems like a pretty good car for $14K.

When could you get a manual transmission in these cars? Was it when the 300 came out?

The 300 series came out in 1955.

I know the 300A was in 55, and then B,C,D,E,f and G. But when was a manual transmission an option, or special order on one of these early Hemi cars? Or was it ever? And was it on the 300 model first?

It was available in 1962 I know for sure.  But only a few were made because it was a crappy french (ponte masseun, or something like that they called it. ) transmission that couldn't take the torque of the 413.

In 1960, a few 300F letter series cars were equipped with the French Pont-a-Mousson aluminum 4-speed transmissions. The actual number is uncertain but possibly 7 to 15 cars were equipped with it, and only in cars with the 400 hp "short ram tube" 413 engines. These were special cars built for racing. Info is from Classic Motorbooks Chrysler 300 1955-1961 by John Gunnell.

i could be wrong but I always thought all the other 300 "letter series" cars built form 1955-1965 were equipped with automatic transmissions.

I read where 1956 offered a three speed and then automatics until the French trans in 1960. 1955 was only automatic.

TerryB is correct, there were 31 three-speed stick 1956 300Bs built in 1956. They used a standard transmission from the Chrysler Windsor models with a larger clutch. Most early 1956s had the 2-speed Powerflites. Late in 1956 the cast iron Torqueflite 3-speed automatic trannys were added.

I had one like this - 2 dr ht - except mine was the Spring Special color scheme. This one looks to be in better condition than mine, but (per my usual m.o.) mine was less money. Mine had the "301" engine...is that what this has? Looks similar, but I'm not a Mopar guy. The coolest feature it had was the dash mounted gear selector.

I know a 4-speed was an option in '65.  My uncle and I saw a non-letter dark blue 300 hardtop with that at Fall Carlisle in 1986.  I was really tempted to buy it.  There was also a gold '63 LeSabre 2-door sedan with a factory 4-speed for sale there.  I should have bought it!
