Mike Barnhill Posted December 23, 2020 Posted December 23, 2020 Can anyone give some guidance on the year of this Stoddard Dayton? Did different bodies come from Stoddard Dayton? Or were there different coach builders supplying bodies? THanks in Advance!
motoringicons Posted December 23, 2020 Posted December 23, 2020 (edited) Well, Stoddard Dayton went out of business in 1913 and very few cars were made during the final year. With the front doors on your example, this is most likely a 1911-1913. Up to the end, Stoddard made a few different sizes of vehicles. The most famous were the larger, four-cylinder models with the hemispherical, overhead valve engines ("Yup, its got a 'Hemi!" ). Toward the end of production, they made smaller cars with non-proprietary L-head engines as well as bigger cars with different engines and wheelbase lengths. Show us the engine and tell us the wheelbase and it will be easy to identify the year and model. Edited December 23, 2020 by motoringicons (see edit history)
