Is this the Rootes family crest, or does this predate the Rootes acquisition of Sunbeam? At some point, it seems that this animal was re-designed from a classical style to a deco/stylized version. Does anyone know when this change was made(perhaps mid-60's)? Is the crown above the animal's head somehow tied to Lord Rootes being knighted?
