rocketraider
I like gravy. Cream, sausage, white or brown flour gravy, red-eye, 'mater... like 'em all, especially if there's biscuit to sop it up with 😋.  One disadvantage to cornbread- near impossible to sop gravy, syrup or preserves with it!
SC38dls
Grits, biscuits and gravy no wonder the population in the south was so low -  ya’ll ate heart attack food regularly!!!
rocketraider
Now, yes, but decades ago people worked all that grease off. Reconstruction didn't completely disappear here till the 1970s. Until then it was work yer ass off on a farm or in a mill.  Plant I worked at had its own cafeteria. When I ordered a heart attack special they knew I wanted a fried baloney burger with cheese, mustard, onions and chili and an order of crinkle-cut French fries. I limited myself to one of those delicious artery cloggers a week, eating a salad or vegetable plate any other time I bought lunch there.  But, it was known that the stress and atmosphere of working in the plant caused more high blood pressure and heart attacks than most of our diets did.
padgett
When you have low blood pressure it is advised to eat more salt.
