1962 Oldsmobile Jetfire 4 speed restoration

Recommended Posts

If people here are interested I will post about my restoration of a 1962 Oldsmobile Jetfire. I got the car in 2015, it had sit in a garage in Chicago since 1974, the same year I was born. Has 44,000 miles on it. I got it running and driving and put about 200 miles on the car till I took it apart for the restoration in July of 2019. I will start adding pictures over the next couple days of the process but I will start with the video that Ryan Brutt made when it was drug from the garage it was sitting in all these years.

Those are cool.   How many were built and how many were stick cars?

There were 3765 total Jetfire cars made in 1962 and only 203 were 4 speed. This is the only known factory 4 speed left. There was another one but sadly it burned up in a forest fire.

They do not make the original style stamps for these years so I had to have some made. Mine do not look as good as the originals but they are close. Even the originals were not nice. It was just some inspector placing his mark, he was not making a show car so I am ok with the quality of my stamps.
