This car looks excellent, and is probably realistically

priced, at least within proper negotiating range.

All 1959 Mercuries are seldom seen, and 4-door

hardtops of almost any model are scarce, too.

This is a car I would investigate if I had room for more.

(Plaintive sigh)

Very nice car .And rustfree as far as i can see .VERY cheap car compared to a so called barn find  car with rust and mexican blankets over the seats and rusty bumpers for 2.000$ that sat far a number of years .Not one hair on my whole head would think to buy that barn find and if it did i would pull it out .

An interesting historical note:  When these cars were

new, one reviewer wrote that the 1959 Mercury's windshield

so distorted the view at the wrap-around corners

that, at night, TWO sets of headlights would be seen

from a single on-coming car!

Yes, that arced glass does distort, enough to be noticed when driving, particularly looking to the right for oncoming traffic.   My sister and brother-in-law had a well-used '59 Monterey sedan for their first car in married life, recall the distortion well.

I really like '59 Mercuries, especially their dashboards, but I've never noticed how oddly placed the clock is.  Another thing, the seller claims that the engine is a 312, but that's not a Y-Block.  It's probably an MEL 383, which is certainly not the 383 most people think about when they hear the number.  :)

Wow, nice...I would love to own that car! And it being a color that would make my wife gag would be an added benefit. 😄 As I say to her, there are some colors that only work on 1950's cars, but boy do they work!

Fin-Seeker, you're definitely adding to the

collections of forum members.  I'm not looking

for another car, but there are currently at least

4 cars on the market that I wouldn't mind having!

Keep your checkbook near by, John.  In the "Not Mine" crystal ball of cars for sale, I think I see a car that might keep you awake one or two nights!  😁

I still think about this hardtop. $13K is little more than many of us are used to paying for a four door Merc of this era, but imagine if it were a Chevy and a two door of the same year and condition. Yikes! And in my humble opinion, a bit more attractive and unique than the Chevy (though I like them, too.)

Not only placed at the extreme end of the dash BUT, the cheaper Mercs had a square face, the top line Parklanes used a round face(!)

I cant think of another car that used a different clock face based on the model. At least without changing the entire dash like in the case of a 57 Merc Monterey/Montclair vs Turnpike Cruiser. . . .

If I hadnt bought that 57 Buick hardtop recently I'd be all over this. 4dr hardtops have great lines to me and this car is in way better shape than most of what's being offered in this price range.
