cutlass overheating

I discovered an answer to a persistent overheating problem I was having with my 71 Cutlass

455. Before you spend many dollars and much time to cure this problem try blocking off the small

hose that comes out just below the upper radiator hose and goes into the water pump. This hose

allows some of the coolant to return to the engine without passing through the radiator. The factory

did this to aid in warmup of the engine but if you are having overheating problems try blocking it off

by inserting a $.95 copper plumbing cap into the hose, it should lower the engine temp 10-20 degrees.
