Hans1965
I looked it up on the Barret Jackson site. It was sold at around 12.5 k. Before that the same car was sold via Barret Jackson in 2017 for around 20 k. The 13.5 now for this Coupe seem to be a good price. But what means "needs a little help"......
Matt Harwood
What he says: "Purchased at auction." What he means: "Purchased at auction because I thought everyone was dumber than I and didn't see what a bargain it was but then I got it home and it became a black hole of woe that began to suck my soul into a nether world of infinite pain and misery. I have never regretted anything this much in my life. They lied to me and I stupidly believed them. Please save me." 3
auburnseeker
My guess is the needs help part is something mechanical that is either a very expensive repair or no one has been able to figure out. That can be more expensive than a rebuild if you end up going shop to shop and no one figures it out. Overheating problem, Random no start problem. My guess is much like Matt's. He's tired of throwing money at it.

Only in my case I bought it on Ebay and paid to haul it across half the country!
Hans1965
You guys have great fantasy or have experienced the worst!! Of course the description gives space for a lot. So from your experience a vague description always means something shady. Edited November 3, 2020 by Hans1965 Typo (see edit history)
Matt Harwood
Well, a vague description, a combination of photos showing the car in a trailer or at the auction but not its current state, and then selling the car for less than you paid at auction earlier this year, yes, that all kind of adds up to someone trying to eject in a hurry for some reason, and it probably isn't "this car is much too nice for me."

58L-Y8
The two-tone paint combinations the Lincoln factory applied were not color broken as this car is. Only the top would be a different color. Had they painted the top shell pink on this originally all-black hardtop coupe at least it would look like a factory job.

TerryB
It’s the “misc” that gets you every time. The buyer probably thought he was getting a ready to drive car with no issues.

Hans1965
At this price you can only expect a car with work. Still like this car a lot. Outside okay, interior okay, chrome, okay. Electrical stuff to be checked. 'Runs and drives' could mean it doesn't stop supported by the picture with the yellow 'stopper'. Brakes shouldn't be a too big issue... But I am broke at the moment anyway...

58L-Y8
The factory two-tone color break for the 1957 Lincoln was second color top only. More than one has a version done to it seen here...and it just looks bad... 1

From what I have read, back then the "luxury" cars didn't have the wild and bright splashes of multi-tone paint that other makes offered. Likely then as now, buyers of luxury cars were a bit more conservative. A contrasting roof was sufficient.

Hans1965
What a wonderful car! I would have never come up with this color combination, but it looks simply gorgeous. Compared with today's white, black or grayish colors, the 50s must have been a better time...

It was certainly a much better time for car colors, for sure. You generally don't find vibrant colors like this on American cars (or foreign) anymore. It drives me crazy. Both my wife and I have red Subarus. If I had my way, I'd require car companies to offer three reds, three blues, two greens, and colors like metallic orange, purple, coral and yellow. I dislike all these grey, black, white and silver cars. Let's go back to 50's car colors. That Lincoln will certainly attract attention wherever it goes. Awesome car. 5
