Odd pricing behavior, to INCREASE the price.

I suppose the scenario was something like this:

Owner:  "The car isn't selling.  Let's reduce it to $8000."

A few days go by.  He runs into his friend at the coffee shop.

Friend:  "Well, 100,000 people have seen it on Craigs' List,

and there's zero demand.  There's bound to be more demand

at a higher price."

And logic suddenly flies out the window!

I would not increase it.   I really do love the car but there is no practical way to get it to Iowa.  I would probably have a coronary trying to drive through greater New York - then Pennsylvania, and so on.  So it would need shipped.  Shipping to Iowa would add $1500 to $2000.    So I a can not even consider.  But, growing up in the 70's these were the cars I liked.  Not so much the 4 doors because the cars were styled as 2 doors and the bean counters said you need to sell 4 door models.  But I believe 1978 is a downsize year for Ford, and they really got unattractive in my opinion after that.  The blue leather seating and interior sell this car to me, not so sure I'd be thrilled with clothe.    Correction: Leather and clothe.

It's a nice car, a nice $6000 local car or so, but to go back up in late November makes no sense.

The Fords and Mercuries were still large in 1978:

The Ford LTD and Mercury Marquis were reduced

in size, though still full-size, for 1979.

The big Lincolns lasted through 1979, and it was

1980 when they were reduced.

I agree, Jake, the large cars were appealing, though

I like the down-sized models too.
