Joyce GW
I'd like to know the year and make of the car in the photo. It an old photo found stuck at the bottom of the cabinet where I live. My house in the background and I'm wondering about the cars as it will help me determine when the photo was taken. Car could have been used so the photo could have been taken after the year the car was manufactured. Thanks for your help
dustycrusty
1946-47 Kaiser-Frazer Special in front of the house, and possibly a 1941 Chevrolet entering the frame. Edited October 25, 2020 by dustycrusty (see edit history)
Joyce GW
Thanks so much. A lot of shipbuilding by Kaiser went on in Oregon during WWII, so he might have had a facility here. Now Kaiser Permanente is one of the larger health care providers.
jimkf
The car is a 1947 or 48 Kaiser Special - the only real difference in years would be the hood and trunk script. The Frazer was a separate make but still manufactured by KF. Essentially the same body but different grille and bumpers on the exterior.
Joyce GW
Thanks for the information. I assume this photo was taken in 1950 or 51 as the car appears used and not so new looking. Could be the quality of the photo which I found under the bottom drawer of a built in hutch. I read up on Wikipedia after I received the info on the car and found out that some of the Kaiser-Frazer cars were built here in Portland OR where I live. Kaiser probably had lots of empty building space left from WWII ship-building days.
