Can anyone help to ID?

The air cleaner pictured in the rear compartment doesn't look correct for a Model 69 Caballero, but who knows where that part came from.

The body tag will tell all. Caballero is a Model 69.

Also look at the Caballero badge on the top back corner of the rear aluminum panels. Another indicator is all the stainless around the lift gate window, the other wagons including the Oldsmobile Fiestas did not have the chrome trim around the tailgate window.

Its ironic, but I have a NOS tailgate glass that I bought a long time ago in case I needed it for my wagon.

See this other one on ebay, looks to be in better shape.

Definitely a model 69, Century Caballero. Look at the chrome strips on the roof. No other wagon has those. The Specials in 1958 do not have those.

Good luck finding the tailgate glass.

Good point, Pete. I was thinking that the 49D also had the strips.

It DOES look like it has the Caballero script on the quarter panels, too.

FireballV8 is right, too. All that extra stainless trim around the tailgate glass=Caballero.

And the liftgate glass is not impossible to find...just ask FireballV8!

So what is a mint Caballero worth? $50K? I have to admit the few I've seen around here are absolutely drop dead gorgeous. But that looks like a massive undertaking, even if it is somewhat complete. It seems like between the purchase price and the cost of getting everything right, you could eclipse its value pretty quickly.

A few years back, Gooding and Co sold a very nice 58 Caballero just under $100,000, I think it was $97,000. Either way if you have one restored it will cost a lot more than that, unless you do the majority of the restoration yourself.

They are very pretty cars and fairly rare.

You got that right. I would take one of those over a Nomad any day.

I wouldn't.  While I like Caballeros just like the next guy, they are not a Nomad.  And I would personally not pay a premium over any Buick stationwagon.  I once saw a 64 LeSabre wagon with factory bucket seats I would have preferred. Or the vista roof Skylarks from 64-69.
