Mikko Ahlström
I am desperately looking for technical drawings or cross-sections of the steering column of our 1927 Chrysler Series 70 Tourer. I would like to understand the construction before disassembling it and planning how to fix the horn and ignition controls. Does anyone have any idea where I could find drawings like this? Or does anyone have more intimate knowledge of the construction? -mikko-
viv w
Your best source will be to get hold of a copy of the owners handbook, which has drawings and advice on adjustments. Attached is an example of the book, sorry I copied this from the nett so am unable to give you better images.
viv w
To remove the horn button and horn rods from the column, you must first remove all the levers and the switch from the bottom of the column, then the horn button and lever assembly with tubes just pulls out the column. Take lots of pictures for reference before you take it apart
Mikko Ahlström
Thank you for the information! And yes, I need to get hold of that owners handbook to see the details of the drawing. I tried to look, but I could not find one yet.
aron_budapest
Hi I have a Chrysler 65, 1929 and like to do the same repair at this winter time. My adjusters (ignition, throttle, lamp switch) are made from pot alloy and they are all broken. I bought a Chrysler 77 manual on ebay, later I made photos of the steering gear. Maybe it will help. Guest
If you need knobs or levers these people may be able to help. All their products are excellent. https://vintageandclassicreproductions.com/product_brands/chrysler/
aron_budapest
Thanks for the link! At least I see how it is look like. The prices are way to much for me, I can cast this 3 parts from bronze about 15$. All I need to make a wooden sample that fits and then they can sand molded.
