Seller's Description:

1970 Cadillac Eldorado

  • Driven 76,000 miles

I am posting this for my father so the words below are his. He is no longer able to care for the car and would like to find it a loving home.

1970 Cadillac Eldorado 76,000 miles. Garage kept or under carport with custom car cover. Original upholstery and carpet. Not sure about the paint, I can only say i have found no overspray but then again, the car is 50 years old and i can't see original paint looking so good. The vinyl top is original and showing some wear (see photos). Leather seats have been kept moist and pliable with regular leather treatments. I have owned and enjoyed the car for almost 10 years. Car was a garage find from the original owner’s daughter. Features include cruise control, Climate Control air conditioning, power trunk release and locking mechanism, power windows, six-way power front seat, electric door locks. Power brakes and variable ratio recirculating ball power steering (car can be driven with one finger). Tilt and telescopic steering wheel and automatic parking brake release. New tires, brakes serviced about 3 years ago. I do not drive the car daily, brakes stop smooth, noiseless and even. New shocks front, new air shocks rear connected to working factory "level ride". New dual exhaust muffler and tailpipes. The 500 cid (8.2 litre) engine runs smooth and quiet with new electronic ignition (ignition change makes the car run properly on unleaded premium fuel.) New radiator heater core and hoses. Transmission shifts smooth and quiet. Pressing accelerator to the floor transmission instantly shifts down and 400 horsepower with 450 ft. pounds of torque moves you down the road. The only problem is the radio will not seek, plays great as does the 8-track tape player (with a good tape). This is my 4th 70 model but due to health concerns i can no longer maintain the car to my satisfaction. For your information I am a retired electro/mechanical engineer and at one time serviced the ground-based imaging system for the space shuttle. My first love is my wonderful family, antique jukeboxes my second is my 70. The 70 Eldorado is a muscle car. According to my research over the years the car was not "street legal" at time of production. The 8.2 liter badge and a little tinkering by the engineers managed to slide the car under the "street Legal" wire. The 500 is a high compression low rpm engine and was the most powerful engine installed in a passenger car at the time. Please message me if interested.

Kind of interesting that the pass door has a handle for the back seat but not the driver door. 66-67 Toros had them on both.

The Eldorado had the rear latch assembly on the passenger side at least through the 1979 model.
