I'll start off with the easy obvious ones. Four door only I guess. Waterhouse Packard x2, Dietrich Packard Split Windsheild, Dietrich Packard Newport. The Dietrich Sport Sedan Packard of 1934 is just about the best sedan in the world. While I like some of the Duesenberg and Pierce special sedans also, the pure smoothness and ride of the 34 Custom Dietrich cars are quite simply the best. I’m fortunate to have driven and worked on on quite a bit. They are simply..........FANTASTIC. Too many people get blinded by tops going down. Here is my 1936 Pierce 1602 Club Sedan V-12. 1937hd45 Posted September 20, 2020 Share Posted September 20, 2020 I've been told an L29 Cord Cabriolet is a lot slower than it looks, so the sedan must get stuck behind a good running Model A Ford, Sidemounts sure mess up the lines, so a rear spare is a must. '29 Model 143 sold in Nov of '29 in Pasadena, Calif. Not sure if/when the archer was swapped but the car has not been altered from when my Grandfather picked it up in '62. I know the chrome tire hold downs and mirrors most likely are not correct but they've been there since '62 so I leave them on it. I do have the helmeted archer for the car but he sits in a display case most of the time. vermontboy Posted September 21, 2020 Share Posted September 21, 2020 1933 Pierce Arrow 836 Personal favorite. I was 11 in 1960 when we drove to Boston to purchase and drive back a 1928 Franklin. The owner hadn’t had time to finish it but offered my dad the Pierce Arrow for the same money. Pumped up a low tire and drove it from Boston to Rochester , Picture was taken about 2 months after we got home, Bernie Weis told my dad he should have waited for a 12 – “they’re a lot more car”. I still love the styling (5 passenger) and road manners (had to wait until I was 15 to drive it). Light steering and braking, Startix starting. lots of torque ..
