Model A Ford cowl stainless trim removal

At the bottom of the trim on both sides, it has a long bolt that slips thru a hole in the cowl and is fastened inside behind the angled piece that the toeboard rests on. It is not easy to see or get to when the motor is in place. Look carefully or use a mirror and you will see them with a 7/16 nut.

When refitting the trim, fit one side with the nut just onto the threads, then fit the other side and put the nut on, you can then tighten up both sides evenly. If you try tightening one side and then try to fit the other side, you will fail dismally.

Look it over really good before you remove it, make sure you are happy with the fit everywhere, and mark which side is which.  If you are going to send it out to have it polished, I would recommend doing a complete refit before painting the cowl in the event that you need to tweak it to get the fit just right again.  It can be a royal pain to get them to cooperate and you won't want to fight with it over your new paint.
