Original Oyster White/red interior
This nearly 60 year old, well preserved time capsule is unique and close to showroom interior/exterior... no rust, [all metal/no body filler] even original dealer undercoating.
Not a 383, but a vaunted, Chrysler 413 cid engine and 4 barrel. Smooth shifting push button automatic.
This one runs beautifully. This model was of the last of legendary designer/engineer Virgil Exner's designs for Chrysler. The curved, wrap around rear window evokes elegance and sportiness.
This pillarless hardtop beauty proudly sports the 300 badge from the unique grill to the finless, 'tucked -in look' rear fenders. Even the canted, slanted headlight design adds to its uniqueness and gives it a 'wider stance' look..
The 300 of that era was Chrysler's high performance personal luxury car also featuring a 'space age' circular dash cluster arrangement, Even the dome light and the original Golden Tone pb radio work!

The original seat cloth is 'like new' and includes seat belts...you would think it recently rolled out of the dealer showroom. a private sale for $14,900 in way above average, near new condition! For the Chrysler enthusiast or the classic collector who wishes for a very reasonable, excellent condition classic time capsule of that era.

Wow, a Chrysler 300 four-door hardtop.

I suspect they are many times scarcer than

the commonly seen convertibles.

My sources show that there were 10,030 Chrysler 300 4-door hardtops made in 1962. The 300 series convertible production was 1,971 which includes 123 true 300H "letter series" cars. This looks like a nice car and I always find a white car with a red interior attractive, however the ad seems to be long-winded and overhyping the car for what it really is, a non-letter series 300 4-door hardtop.

Your statistics are revealing, Mr. 55er.

Many cars with larger production numbers

are rarely seen today--such as this car--

while the "glamorous" models, such as a

300 letter-series convertible, are cherished

and restored.  Thus the glamorous cars  become

almost the most common models of the year.

 

For example, 1953-54 Buick Skylarks are a 

dime a dozen;  so are 1956-57 Lincoln Mark II's.

While they are high priced, they are always

available, and there are always a dozen or more

on the Hemmings website.  In contrast, a

1973 Buick Centurion 4-door hardtop, or a

1957 Lincoln 4-door hardtop, may be thought

commonplace and humdrum, but it is far less common

today and could actually be considered rare.

I see what you mean about the write-up, but this looks to me like a very nice car at a very reasonable price.  The interior looks perfect, and that "bubble" dash is one of the all time greats.  If he really wants to sell the car fast, he should post a nice photo of the dash at night! 😄 Cosmic!

Nice clean Chrysler. As far as the long winded Ad, I see Montana Plates, and a Florida address for the Seller. Unless they just purchased the Chrysler?  Personally, I'm not a fan of the "Plucked Chickens" the Fins made that body style!

I like it and could own it and show it. But there is a limit to what I want to pay for a 4 door hardtop.  We've seen a few 440 Chrysler products these 2 guys are finding and posting for $10 k or less.  You guys know I'm cheap.  I just think I would kick myself for spending $15 large. 

Still - the point of this car is that it reflects a nostalgic era that would make it a joy to own, show and drive.

I can assure you that the ad did not overhype the car for what it is.  This exact model, year, and color combination was MY FIRST car, purchased for me by my father when it was 9 years old...the only difference being that mine had the 383 cid engine...and factory air conditioning (rare to find today).  The car was a dream to drive; it reminded me of a large boat streaming through the ocean.  Even though it was a non-letter series it still bore the exquisite design styling by Virgil Exner.  The push-button shifter was smooth and effortless, and the aircraft-style instrument pod with its "panelescent lighting" was truly a wonder to behold in the evening shadows when every instrument was lit up!  I must admit, however, that the only weakness I became aware of was the twin brake cylinders on each wheel.  The concept was good, but the brake cylinders were sadly under-designed for such a large automobile, and even after replacement the seals would leak prematurely.
