Allen Buchholz
I am a volunteer for the Ozaukee County Historical Society in Wisconsin. We've acquired this beautiful photo, scanned from a glass plate negative, that was taken in 1914. I am positive the center car is a 1914 Buick and I know the owners name. I can see the car on the left is an Oakland and would really like to know the year. I can see the car on the right is a Maxwell and would like to know the year. I would like to know the model and year of the remaining two cars. Any help is greatly appreciated. Allen
dibarlaw
My guess is left to right 1913 Oakland, 1914 Maxwell, 1914 Overland (Not a 1914 Buick), 1909 or 1910 Buick model 17. Last, another 1914 Maxwell. Others may get closer with models etc. 1914 Buick model 37 The center car if a Buick would have looked closer to this 1913 model 31 below. Originally equipped with gas lamps. This example with electric head lamps it looks similar. Your photo showing the the electric headlights and cowl lights, to me the car in question looks to be an Overland. Allen Buchholz
Larry, Thanks for this great information. I've attached another photo I have of the center auto. The one I thought was a Buick and you ID as an Overland. In this second photo the owner has moved the license plate down and you can see a badge. Does this confirm what you thought? Allen Buchholz
Also note the center car in question has right hand drive. That's why I thought it was a Buick.
dibarlaw
From this photo the badge and hub caps appear to be Buick. But the hood /cowl/ radiator shell as well as the lights do not match any FLINT made Buick. Body appears more upscale. Notice the leather finished tops of the doors and body tub. So I may agree to a late 1913 or early 1914 McLaughlin Buick. Edited August 30, 2020 by dibarlaw Added content (see edit history)
dibarlaw
This was one of the 1914 Overland images I considered as a close match. Of course the Overland has an oval badge, an oval filler neck and cap. I did a google image search for a 1913 or 1914 McLaughlin and this was among the unverified selections. The following are 2 cars I offered on. A 1913 Model 31 and a 1914 Model 37. All 1913 FLINT made Buicks have a flat on the top of the radiator/hood. The 1914s only the smaller 4 cylinder series were flat. The larger series had a rounded radiator and hood that blended into the cowl.
