Goodkarmechanic
Hi, I have some oil seals that don't seem to be on any online interchange I can find. Does anyone have an old National Seals book with a buyer's guide? These are approx 4 inches id and are probably for a fully floating rear axle wheel seal. Thanks in advance, Al
cahartley
I have looked until my eyes are crossed........ There are some old seal catalogs and interchange books at the shop I used to own. I'll try to check tomorrow.

cahartley
Sorry GKM........I went through all the OLD seal books and interchanges at the shop today. The number on your seal is, without a doubt, a proprietary number. You will have to get your seal OD measured with a micrometer. I expect you know the shaft size or can determine what it is. If you are lucky it will have an OD that can be matched by a currently available seal. You could get lucky and find there is something with a metric OD that might also work. Once provided with that information I'll check again using a progressive size listing and see if I can come up with something for you. Don't give up.......yet....... Gary_Ash
I searched at yoyopart.com for "oil seal 45156". There are lots of matches, including Federal Mogul, Timken, and other bearing/seal makers, not a rare item. It also listed lots of proprietary numbers for heavy truck makers, so that may be the general application. It crosses to an SKF 31192 part number. An SKF part is listed on Ebay as an engine crankshaft seal. The going price seems to be $12-$25. Size is 4.125" o.d., 3.125" i.d., .25" wide, nitrile double lip seal. Goodkarmechanic
Thank You, cahartley, and Gary_Ash, I appreciate your time and replies. When I get my digital micrometer I will take some measurements and post them here. Presently I only have a cheap plastic ruler type handy.
