g-g-g0
I am told that this is the correct battery hold down for a 1949-1954 6 volt EE battery. Very good condition. I do NOT have the top cover. 20 1/4” between hold down bolt holes $120.00 shipped to the lower 48. 51UKChieftan
Hello, Would you ship to the UK? Joe
g-g-g0
Yes. $105.00 USD and You would be responsible for all shipping, exchange rates, fees, etc. Recent shipments of this smaller size to England and Europe seem to be cheaper via USPS. Would that work? Gary
51UKChieftan
Hi Gary, Thank you for the reply. Let me check the hold down bolts on my battery tonight. I am sure it will be ok as my battery sits perfectly in the tray. When you say you don't have the top cover, is this not the top hold down cover? or am i misunderstanding something being quite new to Pontiacs? g-g-g0
Joe I’m not a Pontiac person, rather I’m into Buick’s. I ended up with this thinking it was Buick. Buick’s and Pontiacs both used the long narrow batteries. In 53 Buick went to a V8 in the Super and Roadmaster and a 12 volt Battery which is essentially the same size. I think the 6 volt was known as a Group EE and the 12 volt was a Group EEE. The 53 Buick 12 volt hold down (one year only I believe) is two piece and a little bit different in configuration . Picture attached. The one I am offering has been identified as Pontiac and may possible have been used by Packard. I have googled pictures of Pontiac flathead engine compartments and in a couple of pictures it appears that the hold down may have had a cover similar to the Buick. Just my assumption. Let me know if I can help answer questions. Gary
The 55er
The 1949-1954 Pontiac battery hold down is correctly identified. The missing top cover for it looks like this:
51UKChieftan
Ah! I see. The top hold down itself had a cover. I will confirm tomorrow Gary once I've measured the bolt spacing. Thanks Gary and 55er for the pics and explanation. Joe
john hess
As 55er shows correct top cover insert.. it is for simplifying checking battery acid level. No tools needed... Thumb spring on one end... Easily removed...
g-g-g0
In the Buick world, the tops are being reproduced. Is that a possibility for the Pontiac’s?
51UKChieftan
Morning Gary, The bolt spacings are the same so all looks good. Can i be cheeky and ask if $200 all in would be acceptable to you? Regards Joe

The original has some dimples in it that I could never do without a press or something. It's not the best but it does the trick. Good luck in you're search!
