Seller's Description:

This ‘62 Imperial is a survivor! A one of a kind to say the very least. Very few left on the road in drive able condition, or that even exist. I’m selling due to not being able to garage it in the near future. About this vehicle... it’s powered by the smooth running, yet powerful 413 engine with the 727 torque flite push button transmission. The engine runs excellent and the transmission shifts very smooth. Car is not missing any decals or trim inside or out. It’s completely original except for a repaint long ago. The original radio has been repaired but not put back in, please look at pictures. The factory air conditioning blows very cold yet and the 6 way power bench seat is still functioning excellent also. One of the 4 power windows is functioning. I haven’t had the other 3 looked at. This car has to be seen in person to look at everything being it’s a 58 year old vehicle. The car was recently appraised professionally and the miles are documented as original, but I have no way of knowing for sure. I do have the appraisal paperwork. Please contact me with any questions. I love those.  And that push button trans is so unique.   If this wasn't the clear opposite side of the continent I'd be seriously considering it.

I had a 1964 Plymouth with the push button trans.  Lots of young people had no idea that even existed.

Me too !

But Matt, with working A/C you would enjoy the fantastic cross-country drive, and could write an article about the trip home. Just need to find motels which are really sanitized?

Bring a credit card, a club roster, and your AAA card.

My preference is still the '58 convertible, but this one is identical to the one my friend loaned me to commute 120 miles/day back and forth to college at the Jersey Shore when rebuilding the transmission and replacing the 1st & reverse Idler gear on my early 1958 TR-3.

My 1956 Plymouth Belvedere 2-door hardtop, Dad's '57 Savoy, my '60 Valiant V-200, and my girlfriend's fathers 1958 Imperial convertible were all Pushbutton. They were Torque-Flyte (Power-Flyte on the '57 Savoy). We never had any problems with the shifters.

Later, our '66 Dart GT convertible was back to conventional controls for the automatic.

As it turns out it's Racine Wisconsin, not California...but the car was sold earlier today.
