jpage
Got a question on the water pump. I've replaced the original pump with a new replacement pump but noticed a small detail. On the front on the head there is a large hole behind the pump. On the rear cover of the original pump there was a 5/16 in. hole through the plate at the location of the hole in the head. On the replacement, there is no hole. Both plates have the cutout for the distribution tube. My question is, will not having that small hole in the cover make any difference in performance or does the plate need the hole or even a larger one. Thanks for any info. Can't seem to find my old pump for comparison.
Pete in PA
Here's a shot of what I believe to be the original pump from my car. Not getting much done on my D2 these days due to increased work hours and house projects.
jpage
Guess I'm going to have to remove it and drill that small hole, just to be safe! Thanks Pete. Take care!
frankngin
jpage All of my old and rebuilt/new pumps have the hole. Even the gaskets have the hole. If they replaced the back plate they forgot it. Frank
