Mars
Hi there, I hope you’re doing well today. Got my state inspection. Yay! Sending unit cap. Whatever you call it. Looks like there might be a couple of broken off screws..
Fossil
Reread your post. The sending unit is under the cover and it appears the two are riveted together. . The bolt pattern matched the new one but was a partial turn off so new holes had to be drilled in it. If you can get yours working I would recommend it. The after market ones are not designed to operate at the 30 degree angle that these are mounted at in the tank. Mars
Hi there, I took out the sender unit. Looks ok. I’ll make a new gasket and put it back. Edited July 3, 2020 by Mars (see edit history)
Mars
Are you suggesting I take it it apart? It worked before the wiring change. So I’m thinking it’s something else. I got 2 out of 3 broken screws out on the sending unit mount.

Your gears look good and if the float raises and lowers smoothly that's good. Attach an ohm meter to the sending unit and to it's terminal and see if the resistance changes when you raise and lower the float? It should. Was your new wiring harness an exact match to the old one?
