Another of those ‚Äúit seemed like a good idea at the time‚ÄĚ scenarios. ¬†I doubt it worked out well for the group.

Maybe they are waiting for it to get dark before they fire it up.  They did even equip it with a headlight.

I think I see a brake drum on the rear axle as well.  Should pass inspection in most states.

I would not fly in a airplane without wings and a wooden fuselage made from shipping pallets either!

Caption from the on board mechanic, to the driver. Look at the mechanic's facial expression.

I'm all ready to fire it up boss

Fantastic photo. Norman Rockwell-ish. Obviously France, no?

Very similar to the car pictured on page 5 of the May/June 2020 issue of Antique Automobile.

The Mechanic is telling the driver,  once I get it up to 3000 RPM,  you release the brake (notice his hand appears to be on it)  and we'll see if we can make this sucker fly.

Hope they remember to light the Headlight first.  That will be quite a chore for the mechanic once they are in Motion.

He might also be telling him that in California it's possible this is made up of parts that might cause cancer.

(though I don't think they'll live long enough to have to worry about it)

It's been said that this artist listens to "Sailing" by Christopher Cross while cruising

Do you know the joke about the two guys who bought a camel from a used car lot?

At least this one looks like it has a variable pitch, so it might have reverse.

But what the heck is that wash basin for?

And those chained up timbers to hold it all together.

I think the wash basin is the gas tank, and the timber is to hold from taking off...

Note to self: don't wear a long scarf today.

Looks a little like a Curtis OX-5 motor. They were cheap after the war, so why not bolt one to a lumber wagon or something...

Riding beats walking, and having a COOL BREEZE IN YOUR FACE ON A HOT DAY,

BEATS A POKE IN THE EYE (oops - sorry for the CAPS)

Radiator and exhaust manifold both keep heat away from operator-

This rig could take a licking !

Solid tires

Solid motor Mounts

Gravity feed fuel system

Variable pitch HVAC?

And so the journey continues...

I can't stop laughing. So many things wrong with this picture, and the smile on the guys face with the striped shirt says it all.

I thought about that being a fuel tank as it does have a pump rigged to it, probably for priming.  But then I see the big tank under the deck,

Then I got to thinking that those timbers could be the brakes.

Regardless, not a very practical vehicle.
