CWigleyjr Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 (edited) Hi All, Can anybody out there give me a lead on where to purchase speakers for my 1990 TC with the infinity stereo system. I'm interested in who may be selling NEW, aftermarket speakers that will work with the original radio. Beyond that, I am open to completely replacing the stereo system with a newer, more modern system. Any leads, guidance, information anyone may have on who would sell these systems would be greatly appreciated. Marty Mopar, I know you have OEM speakers but they are as old as the ones I have and may be experiencing the same issues. Thank You, and Take Care out there. Chet Well, once again I guess I'll have to throw my 2 cents worth in here as I see no-one else jumping in: Here was my solution for the original problematic radio in my TC. This is an original radio from a somewhat later car or van, but you have to pay attention to the different mounting points on the radios. The TC's radio is rectangular, where the next generation radio looked rectangular but were with curved corners, a little more like oval. I would suggest going to a salvage yard and look for a little later OE radio. I just plugged it into the existing, original wiring connectors and it works great with the original TC amplified speakers. Your entire problem with speakers 'could' be the radio. My TC is the early version, #0766, with tons of miles on it, so I can't understand what all the fuss is all about with problems people have with these cars.
CWigleyjr Posted May 18, 2020 Author Posted May 18, 2020 Hi Hemi, Thanks for Jumping in with your 2 cents worth, always welcome. I have the exact same radio I got from Marty a while back and the radio is great. I have one speaker, drivers door that's gon-zo. Others are crackling a bit but not too bad. I'm mainly trying to find speakers that will work with the radio I/you have without buying 30 year old speakers, ya know. I may have to buy the old ones and refurbish them especially if the paper cones are bad. Anyway, thought I'd throw this out there and see if anyone has found or is using a different, aftermarket speaker. By the way, the latch was PERFECT !! Much Appreciated. Take Care, Stay Well & Safe, Chet
Hemi Dude Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 If there are members who have speakers for sale, USED speakers, and they know they are good, you might try them, if the price is not too high. It seems there are some who require both arm$ and leg$ for part$, unfortunately we live in this capitalistic world where the greed for money is overwhelming! Hemi...
CWigleyjr Posted May 19, 2020 Author Posted May 19, 2020 That's what I was hoping for with so many posts about parting out TC's you would think Somebody would have some decent speakers to sell. Marty has some at Arizona Parts but even he says they may not be the best in the west.
