I have a 1950 Imperial. You are not going to believe this, but there is NO SALES LITERATURE for this Chrysler. It appeared late in the model year and guess they figured that they would sell themselves to their very conservative clientele.

The owners manual is the same as for the C49 New Yorker. The Imperial was a sub series of the New Yorker. My Imperial was 1 32,000 mile original with all its documentation intact. The build sheet can be obtained from Daimler-Chrysler for your Imperial and a set of factory photographs.

The address to obtain the build sheet and factory photographs is Daimler-Chrysler,Corporate Historical Collection,CIMS 410-11-21,12501 Chrysler Freeway,Detroit,MI,48288-001.

You must send the Serial Number of your Imperial which begins 7-------. In their reply to me I quote "Our archive shows that no magazine advertising or sales brochure was issued for the 1950 Chrysler Imperial."

The Service Car Record (Build Sheet) gives every last detail concerning your Imperial, and is nice to have.

My Imperial is Standard. I do know that in addition to black, there was a Red and a Green Exterior with tan leather interior. I assume your Imperial is black with black leather interior.

If you want to have the best information on the Fluid Drive, look at the Thread Fluid Torque Drive. This explains what problems may occur and how to fix them.

These cars are wonderfully comfortable for touring and 53 years later are still so.

My car is the Deluxe and is painted dark green on top and light green on the bottom. The interior is black leather and cloth combination. The top of the seats are black leather and the lower half is cloth. The bench part is mostly cloth with leather strips dividing the seat into 3 sections. The pull down arm rests are both leather and the door panels are done in a pleated leather. My information on the car says that it was offered starting Aug.14 and ran until Nov 1.Only 1150 of them were produced

Thanks for the address, I am looking forward to some more detalis on this car and to driving it this summer. I had to get the vacuum boost rebuilt on the brakes and will install that this spring.

HI

Sorry it took me a bit to relpy, but I had to find the paperwork. The outfit that rebuilt my vacuum boost for the brakes is:

Power Brake Exchange

260 Phelan Avenue

San Jose, Calif 95112

(408)292-1305

I had it gold zinc plated to protect it as well...cost was around $300

I hope this helps.
