A blonde pushes her BMW into a gas station. She tells the mechanic it just died.

After he works on it for a few minutes, it is idling smoothly.

She says, "What's the story?"

He replies, "Just crap in the carburetor"

She asks, "Really, and how often do I have to do that?"

Wife tells husband there's water in the carburetor. Husband: how do you know?

Wife: I just know

Husband: you don't even know what a carburetor is or where to find it.

Wife: I swear there's water in the carburetor.

Husband: ok I'll go check it out, where did you park it?

Wife: in the lake...

Obviously they exceeded the 18 ft-lb / 25 N-meters that is specified for my truck.

That is not the only one that I have seen.  The places that I have had the oil changed at have stripped out three of them. I have had to retapped with new bolts.  Idiots.

5-Minute place stripped three (3) oil pans on our son's Jeep Cherokee

Now he changes his Yukon's oil himself (or with my help)

You guys are over complicating things. You don't need to use a torque wrench either. You simply tighten the bolt down as tight as you can. You know its too tight if you hear a "crack", then back off a quarter turn.  I thought everyone knew that.

OK -

Soooo-

You tighten the oil pan drain plug as tight as you can ,

preferrably with a Breaker-bar,

plus a two-foot length of pipe as an extender,

until it turns freely,

and then, (after replacing the pan),

do the same thing next time,

but with only a One-Foot Long extender ??

NOT FUNNY!  :)  You'd think as a car club, we'd be able to do something to stop this insane invasion disruption of our lives.  Multi-billion-dollar class action lawsuit to put them out of business, and as a warning to others, perhaps?  Any lawyers out there who are also fed up with their calls?
