hddennis
Newly Acquired 1917 Maxwell 1Ton truck owner seeking help sent me this photo and I don't think the unit on the right side of his motor came from the Maxwell factory but was retrofitted by some mechanic later. Does anybody recognize what this came off and who made it? Thanks for looking, Howard Dennis Edited April 18, 2020 by hddennis (see edit history)
1912Staver
My first step would be to very thoroughly clean and inspect the entire outside of the unit. There is bound to be some sort of I.D. or manufacturer stamping on it somewhere. It might be a good idea to carefully remove the unit for closer examination , but it can also be done in place. Once you have a general Idea of what it is you can try to pin down an exact I.D. Greg in Canada
oldford
From the photo, looks to be Northeast, possibly from Dodge Bros. But as Staver said, should be a label with mfg name on it... Frank

Old buicks 2
The cap appears to be a Northeast cap that was only used on Reo for about 2 years. Can he pop the dist cap and let us peek at the points?

startergenrebuilder
That is a Remy unit. I restored one off a 1921 REO firetruck and will try and post a picture here shortly. Let me know if you need anything else or any more information. -Jason 1
