What are you paying for gas in your area?

Recommended Posts

According to Gas Buddy here in the area the lowest price for regular is Costco here in the valley. Everyone else is up to either .99 to $1.05 a gallon. That's a 5-10% rate increase. Inflation is kicking in...

I agree it will be interesting to see how travel and gasoline use change in the near future.

But mostly, I’m interested to see how gas prices in northern PA change.  It’s still around $1.75 here in the land COVID mostly forgot.  Considering my old girl has a near-empty 70-gallon tank, I’m holding out to see if it’ll go any lower!

Just remember that pump prices can only go so low. Pennsylvania's 2020 gasoline tax is 57.6 cents per gallon. The Federal gas tax is 18.4 cents per gallon. Therefore  76 cents of a gallon of gas is tax in Pennsylvania. So when you pay $1.75/gallon the actual cost of the fuel is $.99/gallon. Sadly Pennsylvania is one of the highest gas tax states in the USA. For example, Minnesota's gas tax is 28.6 cents/gallon which is 29 cents/gallon less than Pennsylvania. Other factors go into the cost of the actual gasoline which vary from state to state and cities and regions within a given state. When I am traveling for an AACA National I usually check the state gas taxes of the states I will be traveling in/through. That way I can take advantage of states with lower gas taxes and therefore lower gas prices.

Dave, I have been a Gas Buddy member for almost 12 years now and have used it all over the USA where I have traveled. One VERY IMPORTANT thing that everyone here should know is that the ACCURACY of price postings on Gas Buddy is only as good as the information people give it (which in some cases stinks). Let's just say that if I had a $1 for every INCORRECT price posting I have corrected over the last few years I could buy every poster in this thread a nice dinner and have money left over. Sadly, there are a number of good Gas Buddy members out there but their numbers are decreasing  as they are tired of fighting the good fight for accurate prices against newer members who post INCORRECT prices for "Points", "Challenges" and "Standings".

BTW, the price of gas in my  immediate area is $1.99/gallon. 3-4 miles away the SAME gas at the SAME named station is 10-15 cents/gallon cheaper.

Sorry but that was bit of tongue in cheek. I am very happy with the gas price here. A week ago I filled up for .95.9 and now I see when I drive around a bit that the prices are .99.9 to $105.9. Costco is always slow raising their prices so I do believe Gas Buddy.

In Wisconsin our state and federal tax combined is about 52 cents a gallon.

 Still a great deal.

$2.74 to $2.99 here in Monterey.  For all you folks paying under a dollar, with an adjustment for inflation, could be the cheapest gas ever??

I paid $1.79 for budget ethanol the other day in Lincoln, Nebraska, and there are other stations that are lower, I think. Premium is over $2, but non premium non ethanol (which the old car guys want) might be under $2, too. I was buying gas for my van, so I didn't notice.

I was hoping for an even lower price since I'd heard that the price of oil had gone UNDER $0 last week.

Just so the Californians don't feel too picked on. The best advertised price in Seattle is $2.35 but I haven't seen it lower then $2.55. Spokane on the other side of the state $2.00-$2.15 about the same as Portland Oregon. In Coeur d' Alene Id. it's about $1.60. It must be a West Coast thing, we must not have the same glut on the market.

Anybody else about had it up to here with this state to state competition? We have a friend who lives in Portland but has a disabled wife that lives in Tacoma (130 miles north of Portland). He makes the trek between the two cities every weekend. They know at his bank that that he goes to Washington state every weekend, so they refused to cash his pay check because of his travels. Spokane and Coeur d' Alene Id, are thirty miles apart, C d' A being a bedroom community for for Spokane. Mary's family lives in Id. and claims that they had police stationed at the boarder so Washingtonians would not shop in Id. and "hoard" hard to find items in Spokane. The family doesn't seem to find anything wrong with this. Idaho two months ago was running ads in Washington saying "come to Idaho and play" now they are guarding the boarders.

Hi Bill. Friday evening at the Arco station at the Lake Forrest Park shopping center regular E-10 was $2.27.9. Premium was $2.75.9. I would like to  be surprised to see it go lower. But I'm sure not holding my breath.    -    Carl

Here is the target to beat.  A friend of mine sent me this yesterday.  This was his final price after he got his Kroger discount.  Unreal discount.

What was it before the discount?

Sam's Club in Metairie (New Orleans) was $1.14 Tuesday,

but I only use Non-Ethanol at another station.

The Non-Ethanol 89 octane  was $1.24 - and my 2500 Suburban only needed 1/2 tank at 22 gallons-

Saving more by driving less but saving less ???

Just about 2 weeks ago gas was under $1.00 a gallon. Today I filled up at $126.9 and the owner of the station followed me out the door with his remote changing his price to $144.9 which is still 2 cents cheaper then most elsewhere in the area.

 Still a great deal.

$1.91 for cash price today May 4, 2020 in Folsom, while just down the road 3 minutes in Sacramento it is $2.89 a gallon.

strange, I thought most all California was around $2.50 and up. I'm still seeing about $2.79 as the low price for regular.

Just paid $1.19 this morning in Duluth, GA, but it's a new Exxon-Mobil station that opened right in the middle of the virus junk. The two nearest stations on either side are $1.47.

Right now, most stations are at $1.39-1.49, or more, in this part of Atlanta.
