Got a great idea the other day to change the ing coil, points and condenser on my 1950 BUICK special. Swapped out the coil without a problem and it started right up. Changed the old points with new Delco Remmys and NO SPARK! I checked the gap and make sure that the voltage goes on and off when I crank it over. still nothing, So I put the old points back in. still nothing. Changed the condenser then charged the battery. I cranked it and had spark, THEN IT STOPPED abruptly. No spark again. Maybe I should try to change to an electronic set up? Also, one of the distributor cap clips broke. I found these cap springs on ebay. The 55er Posted April 11, 2020 Share Posted April 11, 2020 If I were you I would clean the contacts on the NEW points with a point file, they can get corroded just from sitting on the shelf.
