VTLA Mark
Hello Everyone, I new to this club and I recently bought out an estate loaded with NOS and used parts and I sure could use some help identifying this flat head engine. I believe it a Pontiac??? I will be posting parts that I have from the 30's 50's and 60's Pontiac, Chevy etc...
keiser31
Looks like a Chrysler product engine. Can you supply the letters and numbers on the flat pad on the driver's side near the front just under the cylinder head?
Bloo
I agree. It screams Chrysler to me. It isn't Pontiac, as it has the wrong number of ports in the block. The fuel pump flange also points to Chrysler.
keiser31
Pontiac sixes of 1930 or so have two small cylinder heads.
3macboys
From the numbers posted looks like a 1936 Dodge D2
TerryB
The 636**** would be mid thirties using Chrysler’s typical numbering system. Edited April 5, 2020 by TerryB (see edit history)
Scott Bonesteel
I agree with keiser and Bloo that the engine screams Chrysler product. I cannot find the block casting number in any of my parts books but the 1935 Dodge Truck Parts List for 'Trucks Built After June, 1935' lists the head number 636175 (without the -2) as "Cylinder head (high compression--6.5 to 1) K32V, K33V, K34V". The K32V, K33V and K34V are all 1935 Dodge 1 1/2 ton trucks.

Hudsy Wudsy
For me, the most obvious thing about this engine was it's Floating Power motor mount in front. Pretty hard to miss. Where is engine located?
