Best of luck with your project. Nice big shop!
NTX5467
In the realm of :slots" or "holes" in the bearing for oil-feeding purposes, the slot would be preferable as it would allow more gradual "pressure spikes" of oil to the bearing area. But for the demands these engines typically had placed upon then, probably NOT a big deal either way. The other deal is that such differences could have been a VISUAL identification of which engine got what parts on the engine assembly line. Especially if the journals might have been different diameters. It could also be that when the service manual for that model year was being configured, it might have been a consideration to use the slotted or holed bearings, but as the manual items would have needed to be done months prior to the vehicle's appearance at the end of the assembly line, that decision could have been changed after that section of the service manual was authorized. Which means that when using the service manual as a primary reference source, you might need to go one year back or one year forward, plus cross-checking that information with knowledgeable people, for good measure. Enjoy! NTX5467

51BuickWoody
Today's progress. We raised the body up in 1997 when my dad started to focus on wood working. Today we brought the body back down. It was held up by channel rails and I-beams, lowered down by block and tackle. 2

51BuickWoody
Started the floor panels. Bought the front drivers and passenger side from Classic 2 Custom Fabrications. They fit OK, gonna have to do a little modification. The rest will be 18 gauge sheet metal.
