How do I know what engine I have in my 1912 Maxwell  E     G    ???????     Im new to this

In 1912 you will be able to identify engine by wheelbase of car. 
 

86” messenger  2cyl

104” mascotte 25hp 4cyl 

110” mercury 30hp 
114” special 36hp

 

E and G are both 1910 models with identical chassis.  EA and GA are the 1911 equivalents.

Looks like a Mascotte. A Mercury would have four single jugs.  Possibly a model 22. With that we are getting a little modern for my knowledge base.
