1937hd45
I've always wondered what it was like to survive the Civil War and live a healthy life afterwards and witness the invention of the cross country railroad, telephone, electrical things, automobile, and airplane. mike brady
John, I resume that this is J256, early in its life and long before the side mounted spares were added by Pete Warvel in the mid 1960's. Do you have any information on where the photo was taken and when ? thanks, Mike

The sale of the Pierce-Arrow Sales Corporation division of the company was a condition for the million dollar loan by the Buffalo banks after the 1934 bankruptcy to keep the company going. Sales would be handled by private distributors thereafter, so wrote Marc Ralston in his book. It didn't help sales. Ed, Anything to add? jukejunkie1015
Worthy Morris drives his 1906 Cadillac loaded with several passengers over the back of a daredevil in front of the Pantages Theater. A curious crowd has gathered for the June, 1909, event. The unidentified man apparently traveled throughout the country making bets that he could survive being run over by an automobile. He did live through the Tacoma mashing but reportedly was finally crushed to death several years later.
jukejunkie1015
Parked outside the John Gallucci residence of 516 North "M" St. on April 29, 1930, was a new Cord courtesy of Remmert Motor Co. Miss Florence Gallucci is behind the wheel; she was the first woman in Tacoma to drive a Cord front-drive. Miss Gallucci is the daughter of John Gallucci, local contractor. This is the second car purchased by Mr. Gallucci from Remmert Motors, distributors of Auburns and Cords. LCK81403
This appears to be a 1936 Horch. The gasoline pump with the large circular dial is labeled "GEMISH" at the top, a German world for "mix". For a number of years the German's had been experimenting with gasoline mixed with other volatile substances. Since the pre-1910s and later years the subject was written about in various automotive journals.
LCK81403
John, it appears that the Cole photo you posted is about a 1919 model, very similar to this red 1919 Cole Aero Eight. The headlight surrounds a different, however. The Cole Aero has headlight surrounds that resemble those on the circa '24 or '25 Buicks. The 1910 Cole racer has round wheels in the rear and oval wheels in the front. It is interesting how old camera technology captured moving objects.
