28 Buick Roadster Wind Wing brackets

Recommended Posts

1st, anyone know of a source for the wind wing brackets for a 28 Buick Roadster?

Failing that, would the WW brackets that are available for Model A Fords work?

Ford wind wing brackets require holes drilled into the stanchion post. Model A bracket requires a 5/16" hole. see first photo below.

The stanchions I found for my 1925-45 Buick had been drilled thru twice, leaving a weak spot at the narrowest point, so I welded the holes closed.

The other option is to use clamp on type windwings which were aftermarket accessories.   There were many different designs of clamp type bracket.

I can offer you a heavy brass set which is missing 1 of the stanchion clamps. price $120.

Kevin,

Thanks for the response and the information. If you look at the photo above, tha stantions are already drilled with a

'screw" in the holes.I don't know if this is stock or something someone previously did? I have a set of Model A clamps on order so I will find out shortly if they work? If not, I guess I'll have to get another Model A, so they don't go to waste. 😟

Those 2 screws fasten the windshield frame to the upper stanchions, which fold down forward over the cowl. You could probably replace the screw with a stud, and attach the windwing to the stud. Just don't remove all the screws at the same time or the windshield frame will fall out.
