Wow, must have been a clean car to have gotten them all off in one piece!

Yes, the ones below the body was in good shape, the front under the radiator support was bad and the 2 fronts on body mounts was bad.

All in all the car was in very good shape. No accidents, minor rust, etc.

The paintshop takes a bit more time than I thought. However it allows more time to work on parts that still needs to get done.

Been working on the heater, brake pedal mechanism, master cylinder.

The master cylinder plug was very difficult to get out. Looks like Fusick has a complete kit to overhaul the master cylinder and booster.

The master brake cylinder and booster is all cleaned and ready for rebuild. Parts ordered.

The stearing wheel has a lot of cracks. Never done a steering wheel before. I was not precise enough with the epoxy so I got some sanding to do 😀

I also found the horns. They also need some attention 🙂1828258741_1957horn.thumb.jpeg.e92c631af2dcd73d2e8b9ed96d510716.jpeg

Been awhile since last update, but I have not been too lazy 🙂

Cleaned all the stainless trim, fixing dents, etc. polish will come later. Have to borrow the polishing equipment from a friend.

A couple of dents are too difficult for me, so I have asked a pro to fix them.

I also digged out all the interior metal trim parts.

It's amazing so many punching tools the factory used back in the day, to fabricate all the unique parts.

I thought I found all the medium blue interior metal parts and had delivered them at the paintshop. Then looking for other parts in my garage these pops up 😲

So many parts to keep track of 😊 I actually also belived I had all chrom parts in control, but more parts that needs chroming.

2 weeks ago it was finally ready to be picked up.

I'm really happy with how the two colors match, best thing however is my wife is too 😀

I simply had to put some shiny stuff on it, so the handles and emblem's on the decklid got to go first.

Fenders will be removed so I have easier access to the firewall.

I also picked up the last pieces from the plating company.

Eventhough I took the car apart and has a lot pictures and description of what goes were, it still takes time to find all the items and do the assemblies. However it is very rewarding. Working on the firewall, heater, engine wiring harness and rearend. Rear bumper ready to be installed.

Yes, here comes an update.

Last year my son got his first car, a 74' Vette. It needed some work and we spend much father and son time.

It was so rewarding working on his car with him, however it also meant that I have not done much on the '57 Buick.

But here is some photos and today we got the rear bumper on.

Looks great!  Awesome work!

One thing to note though is that you may have a hard time getting tail lights on with bumper already on, given the long studs on the lower housing and the lip that tucks behind the bumper end.

Thanks Lancemb and thanks for the hint - I was very careful and not that frustrated, because of the heads-up.

Tried to get them on - no luck.

Would not risk scratching the paint 😰, so the bumper will come of again 😟

But now I know the bumper fits very nicely 😆😆

The bumper is of and tail light is on 😀

Man that bumper is heavy.

Looking great!  One observation/question - do you have the painted baffles that screw on under the trunk lid that tuck under the top of the bumper?  You'll want to put those on before the bumper.

I think that may be a big series or Roadmaster only thing?

They are definitely on small series.  I took them off the Special 2 dr. Sedan parts car I had and sent them to Jim Pickard for his wagon.  I wanted them for the convertible but they weren't the same of course.

Yes, they are attached in the picture with the left tail light mounted.

They are used to hold/attach the masticated rubber. To avoid water/dust etc. from the underside to sucked up on the rear.

Rim and tires are ready.

I had one bad rim, so I was looking a replacement. Not easy to find an exact match.

Found 2 that came very close.

The spare tire rim was 0.5 inch smaller in width, dont know if that is correct from the factory or it might have been changed at some point.

My baileywick is the first generation Riviera. They came with either 5.5” or 6” wheels.  The 5.5” was stock, the 6” came when the optional “oversized tire” was ordered.  In the day, all 5 tire/wheel sets were used in rotation so all 5 wheels should be the same width.

Thanks for the info. That makes sense.

Are you certain your car came like that?  If so, I think you have a very unusual car.  I've never seen another 57 with masticated rubber over those painted panels, and I've seen many.
