2020 - 2020 mile challenge

Recommended Posts

OK, the weather has been uncooperative here.  I tried to put a couple miles on the Special Wagon and it acted like it was out of gas (it was not) so back to the barn with that.

Got a couple days driving with the GS California in April.  Garage is jammed up - cars in "pole position" are inoperable now.   I'm lucky to have these challenges!

Here is the latest tire/wheel test on the 64 LeSabre Wagon though.

Finally got the Electra out of the garage this week after completing the Heater Core replacement, with some other jobs "while I was there", and getting the Chevelle out of the way.  Mileage start is an even 77,770 miles.   Unfortunately, I only got 3 miles before the car started idling very roughly and the HOT light coming on... according to my infrared thermometer, the car wasn't hot at all, running about 185*.  Limped it back to the garage and will investigate more fully this weekend.  if I can't find the issue, look for  new thread in the post war - technical forum asking for help!

Adding 243 (270 - 10% for incorrect odometer)   more miles to my 365.  Total so far 608 miles.  Much easier when one adds the mileage from multiple cars! 😁

Among the places visited were the National Cemetery in Saratoga NY

The '56 is running fantastic!  Probably due to that steering wheel replacement last year., the horn that works, and of course, the repair of that inadvertent vacuum leak...

After having to replace the pts. and condensor setup in the Buick, she's up and running well.

I managed to meet up with the local aaca chapter who was sponsoring a 'social distancing" cruise. Since I live in the middle of god's country, I had to drive about 30 miles to get to where the meet was starting. We met at a local truck stop near the intersection of Rt 80 and drove through Newton Falls, Ohio. The town with zip.......44444, and and a great covered bridge. Finished up with an ice cream stop.

I drove a bit over 100 miles all told, with the car running great. I think that makes my total around 160 miles so far. Got to work on that, for sure.

I'm not pleased with how the car is steering though. Too much wandering in the steering. I've got to get back under it and check it out.

Bill

Added 164 miles to my previous total of 608.  Puts me at 772 for now. Gotta come up with someplace to go.

Adding close to 180 more to advance to 1,320 for this year.

So far, the more the '56  is used the better it seems to run.  And the horn is really awesome now too...lol

It's good to check in and see you are exercising and enjoying the collection John!

This year is a bust for me on the challenge until sometime after Labour day earliest but enjoying hearing about every one's getting out.

Keep it coming gang!

I am with Doug, my car has spent more miles on a flatbed or a trailer there driving it. Maybe when fall comes....
