1924 Six Owners / Parts Manual 2 Versions?

When Buick came out with their new line of cars for 1924 there were 10 Models offered. At some point and time (not sure when) they added to the line up four additional models, a Limousine (24-50L, 746 made); Country Club Coupe (24-54C,  107 made); a Town Car (24-57, 25 made); and a Opera Window Brougham ("24-51a", unknown made).

 

I noticed that because of this there were two 1924 Six Reference (Owners) Manuals produced (Inside front cover list models available) One reference manual lists the 10 Models available and the other one lists the 14 Models available. Unfortunately there are no publishing dates on either of the two versions. My question is, if they came out with two different reference manual versions, did they also come out with a different 1924 Parts manual showing what parts that were unique to those four models? Do some of you have parts books that list the above models and others who do not? For those who have them (I don't yet), at the beginning of your parts book does it list the Models it covers like it does at the beginning of the Reference Manuals?

And here is another point of curiosity, since there are no publishing dates on either reference manual, did the four additional models get added at the end of the production year, or were they at the beginning of the production year and got dropped because of low sales or interest?

According to "The Buick a Complete History", the 1924 models were introduced on August 1st, 1923. 

There was no mention of the different models introduced. However, the year/model descriptions on pg. 408 lists 32 model variations including export models (X designations) listed as different models.  17 models are listed without X designations.

Since the 50L 51A 54C and 57 were not offered in 1923, I bet they were late year for 1924, rather than early year/carry overs.

Interesting that they list 17 Models without the X designations because if you add up the four models listed in the 1924 Buick 4 cyl Reference manual, and the 14 listed in the later 6cyl Reference manual then that would be 18 models without X designations unless they are not including the "51A" in that Model count for some reason? I don't have the book your referencing, do they actually list by Model Number which 17 they are?

Not sure where that website collected their data from, but notice in their list the "51A" is not mentioned. They do list that 4,991 Model 51 were produced, According to another website production figures for the Model 51 was 5,015 and there are no production figures at all for the "51A" ;

All this just adds to the confusion and lack of information about the "51A"

And does the difference in production numbers referenced by the two (4,991 and 5,015) mean that possibly only 24 Model 51A's were produced? Much like the Town Car which has a production figure listed as 25.

 

Are there any known (Town Cars) Model 24-6-57's out there that anyone knows of?

They list Model 24-51 Brougham Touring Sedan with 4991 units built.

  "           "       "    X24-51        "                  "                     "       24 units built.  

No Models 24-51A are mentioned.

The 6’s were totally new cars for 1924

 

All new engine

 

4 wheel brakes

 

All new body style. 
 

The 4’s were carryover and on their way out but still got the new bodies and brakes.
